The spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, stated that the agency has received information about officials still undertaking Eid al-Fitr travel in 2026 using official vehicles. Although appeals not to use official vehicles for Eid travel have been widely disseminated.

“KPK has received information about the continued misuse of official vehicles in several institutions for personal interests and outside of official duties,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Saturday, 28 March 2026.

Budi declined to detail the names of the officials who used official vehicles for Eid travel. All government institutions are urged to conduct evaluations.

“For that reason, we urge regional heads and inspectorates to immediately carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the misuse of official vehicles in their environments,” Budi said.

Budi emphasised that using official vehicles for Eid travel constitutes a violation. This is because state facilities are used for personal interests, which are not official duties.

“KPK stresses that official vehicles, whether rented or with BMN/BMD status, are positional facilities whose use is regulated solely for office operational or official purposes,” Budi stated.

Government institutions where officials or employees use official vehicles for Eid travel are expected to impose firm sanctions. This is because such actions could become avenues for corruption in the future.

“KPK views that corruption risks do not only arise from the misuse of authority or position, but can also stem from the misuse of state or regional facilities,” Budi said.

Regional inspectorates are urged to take action against officials who use official vehicles for Eid travel. KPK believes that the use of government office-owned vehicles constitutes a violation.

Budi stated that official vehicles are state assets not prepared for personal interests.
