KPK Reveals Official Vehicles Still Being Used for Eid Return Trips
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has received information regarding the ongoing practice of misusing official vehicles in several agencies for personal interests, including for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE homecoming purposes.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo urged regional heads and inspectorates to immediately conduct a comprehensive evaluation to prevent integrity violations in their work environments.
“To that end, we urge regional heads and inspectorates to immediately conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the misuse of official vehicles in their surroundings,” said Budi Prasetyo on Saturday (28/3).
Budi emphasised that official vehicles, whether leased or classified as State/Regional Owned Goods (BMN/BMD), are purely operational facilities intended for official duties. Deviations in their use are seen as potential entry points for larger corruption practices.
According to him, corruption risks do not only arise from the misuse of official authority but also from the improper utilisation of state facilities.
“Practices that are often considered simple, such as using official vehicles for personal interests, in fact reflect conflicts of interest and can impact state financial losses as well as diminish public trust,” Budi stressed.
Mitigation Through Latest Circular Letter
As a preventive measure, KPK has issued Circular Letter No. 2 of 2026 on the Control and Prevention of Holiday Gratifications.
In the circular, KPK asserts that the utilisation of state facilities for personal interests constitutes a conflict of interest that contradicts the principle of accountability. This step is expected to maintain the integrity of State Organisers and Civil Servants (ASN) during the Lebaran holiday period.
