KPK Reveals Muara Enim Regency Used Bribe Money to Bribe BPK Civil Servants

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that bribe money received by the Muara Enim regency government was allegedly funnelled to civil servants at the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Five BPK civil servants were caught in a sting operation related to the bribery investigation implicating Muara Enim Regent Edison. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo stated that evidence from the operation corroborates findings in the existing case, noting that a portion of the Rp 500 million bribe given by a private party to the regency government was allegedly used to bribe officials in connection with BPK audit findings. The sting operation took place in several locations across Jakarta and South Sumatra. The KPK suspects the payment is linked to BPK findings in the procurement of smart boards, including smart TVs. Previously, the KPK outlined how Regent Edison ordered the Secretary of Muara Enim’s Education and Culture Agency, Abi Nurwardani, to create nominee bank accounts to disguise illicit funds. Abi Nurwardani is accused of receiving Rp 500 million in cash from Cory Erin Hardi, a marketing representative for PT Millenium Solusi Abadi, a supplier involved in the 2025 fiscal year procurement project.
