KPK Reveals Alleged Flow of Lebaran Money to West Lombok Regent
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed new facts regarding alleged corrupt practices involving West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ). The anti-graft body suspects LAZ of requesting money from subordinates by exploiting the momentum of the religious holidays ahead of Lebaran in 2025 and 2026.
Acting Director of KPK Investigations, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that in 2025, LAZ allegedly requested the collection of funds ranging from Rp500 million to Rp750 million. “In 2025, there was an alleged request for the collection of money from LAZ ahead of Lebaran. This was approximately Rp500 million to Rp750 million,” Taufik stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In this scheme, the President Director of the regional water company PT Air Minum Giri Menang (Perseroda), Sudirman (SUD), is suspected of acting as an intermediary. Sudirman allegedly sought assistance from the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Agency (PUPRPKP) of West Lombok Regency, Lalu Ratnawi, to collect the funds before they were handed over in cash to LAZ.
Similar practices are suspected to have occurred again in 2026. The KPK has identified the flow of funds allegedly received by the related parties. Taufik stressed that investigators are still probing the source of the funds and the possible involvement of other individuals in this series of corrupt acts. “We will continue to investigate the flows and sources of the funds,” he added.
The case came to light after the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) on 20 July 2026, the 17th such operation carried out by the commission that year. During the operation, the KPK team secured 20 individuals in the West Nusa Tenggara and Jakarta regions. Following intensive examination, the KPK officially named three suspects on 21 July 2026 in two separate case clusters. The suspects are currently being detained to facilitate further investigation aimed at fully uncovering corrupt practices in the West Lombok Regency.
