KPK Reveals Alleged Extortion by Sukoharjo Regent, Etik Suryani Suspected of Pocketing IDR 2.93 Billion
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the alleged profits obtained by Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani from extorting her subordinates. In the case that now names her as a suspect, Etik is suspected of receiving a total of IDR 2.93 billion, part of which was used for personal interests.
The case came to light after the KPK named Etik Suryani as a suspect alongside two other Sukoharjo Regency Government officials in an alleged extortion case within the local administration.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu explained that the alleged extortion was carried out by utilising two Regent Decrees (SK) related to the provision of incentives at the Regional Financial, Revenue and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Sukoharjo Regency.
The two decrees in question are the Regent’s Decree on the Receipt and Amount of Payment of Regional Tax Collection Incentives and the Regent’s Decree on the Recipients and Amount of Payment of Regional Retribution Collection Incentives for the Year 2026.
According to Asep, these two policies were allegedly used as a means to collect payments from employees within the BPKAD. “The issuance of these two Regent Decrees was allegedly used by ETS as a tool to carry out extortion of ‘Collection Fee Payments’ within the Sukoharjo BPKAD,” Asep Guntur Rahayu stated during a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
In carrying out the alleged practice, Etik is said to have ordered the Head of the Sukoharjo BPKAD, Richard Tri Handoko (RCH), to collect a portion of the incentives received by employees. The KPK revealed that Richard was asked to collect approximately 40 per cent of the tax and retribution collection incentives received by BPKAD employees.
“ETS asked Mr RCH, as the Head of the Sukoharjo BPKAD, to collect around 40 per cent of the incentives received by a number of employees at the BPKAD,” Asep said.
The order was then passed on by Richard to echelon III officials within the BPKAD. These officials were asked to deposit the incentive deductions to Nardi (ND), who served as the Secretary of the Sukoharjo Regency BPKAD for the 2021-2026 period. The collected funds were then allegedly handed over to Etik Suryani.
