KPK Reveals 70 Papua Provincial Government Vehicles Worth Rp5.71 Billion Not Returned
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that 70 official vehicles belonging to the Papua Provincial Government, with a total value of Rp5.71 billion, have yet to be returned as they are still held by unauthorised parties. KPK Director of Coordination and Supervision for Region V, Maruli Tua Manurung, stated in Jayapura on Friday that this finding was part of an audit by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) on the Papua Provincial Government’s financial reports for the 2025 fiscal year. He added that the audit also recorded 230 other official vehicles, worth Rp28.68 billion, whose whereabouts could not be traced. In total, 300 problematic vehicles have an acquisition value of Rp34.4 billion. Manurung emphasised that the KPK continues to coordinate with the Papua Provincial Government to improve regional financial governance, including the management of regional assets, to ensure they are more orderly and accountable. He noted that strengthening guidance and oversight would involve relevant ministries and agencies, including the Inspectorate as the internal government supervisory apparatus. Manurung stressed that improving governance requires commitment from the entire Papua Provincial Government leadership, from the governor to all heads of regional apparatus organisations, especially as the Monitoring Centre for Prevention and the Integrity Assessment Survey still indicate vulnerabilities in local governance.
