The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has once again placed former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in detention at the KPK’s facility in the case of alleged corruption involving the Hajj quota. However, Yaqut is still required to undergo health tests.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the transfer of detention type took place on Monday (23/3/2026). This process is part of the ongoing investigation needs.

“Today, the KPK carried out the process of transferring the type of detention for suspect YCQ from house arrest back to detention in the KPK facility,” said Budi in his statement on Monday (23/3/2026).

In the detention transfer process, Yaqut first underwent a health examination. The examination was conducted by a team of doctors at Bhayangkara Hospital TK. I R Said Sukanto, East Jakarta.

“For now, the health examination by the doctors is still ongoing. We will all wait for the results of this health test,” he said.

The KPK ensures that the investigation into the alleged Hajj quota corruption case will continue in accordance with applicable legal mechanisms. The anti-corruption agency also aims to soon complete the case file for submission to the prosecution stage.

“We assure that the investigation of the case will continue to progress to complete the investigator’s file and soon be submitted to the prosecution stage,” he stated.

The KPK also appreciates public support in monitoring the handling of this case. The latest developments regarding Yaqut’s condition and the legal process will continue to be conveyed to the public.

As is known, Yaqut has been a KPK detainee since Thursday (19/3). This information was first revealed by the wife of former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer (Noel), Silvia Rinita Harefa, after visiting Noel during the Eid moment on Saturday (21/3).

“This one, earlier I didn’t see Gus Yaqut. The info is that he was released on Thursday night,” said Silvia at the KPK Detention Centre on Saturday (21/3).

After the wife’s testimony became widely discussed, the KPK then issued a statement confirming that Yaqut had been placed under house arrest. The KPK acknowledged that the change in detention status was not related to Yaqut’s health condition.

“Not because of illness. It was indeed due to a request from the family side, and then we processed it,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Sunday (22/3).
