KPK Responds to Viral Photo Discussed by Netizens Regarding Detainees at Airport
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to a tweet from an X user accompanied by a photo of three people wearing orange vests labelled “KPK Detainee” at an airport, which went viral and was discussed by netizens.
“That is one of the processes in prosecution, namely the transfer of the suspects in preparation for the implementation of the trial,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Budi explained that the individuals in the KPK detainee vests are suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the suspended Regent of Central Lampung, Ardito Wijaya.
They are Ardito Wijaya, Riki Hendra Saputra, Ranu Hari Prasetyo, and Anton Wibowo.
He further explained that the suspects in the photo are in the process of being transferred from detention ahead of their first trial in Lampung on Wednesday.
“Previously detained at the KPK’s Red White Building Branch Detention Centre, for preparation to attend the trial, their detention has been moved to the detention centre and prison in Lampung,” he clarified.
According to him, the transfer of detention is necessary so that the process of presenting the suspects in court can be carried out immediately.
“This also applies to several other suspects whose detention is carried out in Jakarta, then the trial is held in the region according to the locus (location) of the incident,” he said.
Previously, the KPK conducted a hand arrest operation (OTT) on 9-10 December 2025 and secured five people.
On 11 December 2025, the KPK announced those five people as suspects, namely Central Lampung Regent Ardito Wijaya (AW), Central Lampung DPRD member Riki Hendra Saputra (RHS), the Regent’s younger brother and Chairman of the Central Lampung Indonesian Red Cross Ranu Hari Prasetyo (RNP), Acting Head of the Central Lampung Regional Revenue Agency and close relative of Ardito Wijaya named Anton Wibowo (ANW), and Director of PT Elkaka Putra Mandiri Mohamad Lukman Sjamsuri (MLS).
The five individuals became suspects in the alleged case of receiving gifts or promises related to the procurement of goods and services, as well as other receipts in the Central Lampung Regency Government environment for the 2025 fiscal year.
The KPK suspects Ardito Wijaya of receiving Rp5.75 billion related to the case, and using Rp5.25 billion to repay bank loans for campaign needs during the 2024 Regional Elections.
Then, X user @selenouir tweeted and attached two photos related to people in KPK detainee vests.
