KPK Responds to Mahfud MD's Statement Regarding Nusron Wahid
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to statements made by former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, regarding the possibility of summoning and questioning the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid.
“At this stage, we are still in the early phases following the sting operation, where the investigation has been upgraded to the inquiry stage. Investigators are continuing to focus on completing additional evidence,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Praselyo to journalists in Jakarta on Saturday.
Consequently, Budi urged the public to first allow KPK investigators the space to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption within the Ministry of ATR/BPN.
“We must provide space for investigators to continue their deep dive in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” he said.
Furthermore, Budi invited the public to await developments in the investigation, particularly regarding parties who may have played a significant role beyond the suspects already detained by the KPK.
“Whether there will be other parties suspected of having a significant role in the construction of this case? We shall all wait for the developments,” he added.
“In my opinion, for the sake of transparency, the KPK should immediately clarify whether there is an intention to summon or at least examine Nusron,” said Mahfud on Friday (18/9).
He stated that it would be illogical for the public if Nusron were not examined during the investigation of this case.
“It does not make sense to the public that he is not examined. It is simply illogical. It has been stated openly,” he said.
Mahfud continued that if the KPK fails to summon and examine Nusron, the public will raise questions regarding the anti-corruption agency.
“I believe the KPK will face further questions if Nusron is not summoned and his position clarified, as he is a public official,” he remarked.
The sting operation relates to alleged corruption in the management of Building Use Rights (HGB) for PT Summarecon Agung Tbk in Bogor Regency, West Java.
A day later, the KPK named eight individuals as suspects in the alleged bribery case within the Ministry of ATR/BGB.
The suspects include the Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Order at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Lampri; the Head of the Bogor Regency Land Office I, Sontang Coin Manurung; the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto Pitojo Adhi; and Rizal Pahlevi, representing the private sector/intermediary for Summarecon.
Other suspects include the former Regent of Kebumen, Arif Sugiyanto; the Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP, Fahd El Fouz (also known as Fahd Arafiq); and private individuals Erwin and Muhammad Fakhry. The latter four are alleged to be trusted associates of Minister of ATR/BPN Nusron Wahid.
On 17 September 2026, KPK investigators searched the offices of Lampri, the Director General of Land Survey, Mapping, and Spatial Affairs, Virgo Eresta Jaya, the Director General of Land Rights Determination and Registration, Asnaedi, as well as relevant directorate offices. However, the KPK emphasised that they did not search Nusron Wahid’s office.
On 18 September 2026, the KPK continued its search operations, targeting the Summarecon office and the residence of Lampri.
