The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rescheduled the examination of former Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, for next week, between March 2nd and 6th, 2026.

“For the time being, the examination has been confirmed to take place next week,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The KPK then urged Budi Karya Sumadi to be cooperative and comply with the rescheduled examination.

He also asked the former Minister to provide the information needed by KPK investigators when he responds to the summons.

“In this way, it can effectively help uncover the case and bring clarity,” he said.

Previously, the case was revealed starting from a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK on April 11, 2023, at the Class I Railway Technical Center for the Central Java Region of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

Currently, the Class I Railway Technical Center for the Central Java Region has been renamed the Class I Semarang Railway Technical Center.

The KPK then named 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case of the construction and maintenance project of railway lines in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

After some time, or until January 20, 2026, the KPK had named and detained a total of 21 suspects. The KPK has also named two corporations as suspects in the case.

The alleged corruption case occurred in the construction project of the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double-track railway line; the construction project of the railway line in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java; and the project to repair level crossings in Java-Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of the project, it is suspected that there was manipulation of the project implementers by certain parties through engineering from the administrative process to the determination of the tender winner.

Budi Karya Sumadi had previously been examined by the KPK in the case. He was last examined by the KPK as a witness in the alleged corruption case of the DJKA on July 26, 2023.

On February 18, 2026, the KPK again summoned Budi Karya Sumadi. However, he was unable to attend the summons because he had other scheduled activities.
