KPK Requires Additional Investigators to Prevent Case Delays
The Corruption Eradasting Commission (KPK) requires additional investigators to ensure that the handling of alleged corruption cases is not delayed due to prioritisation.
“We are indeed still lacking human resources in terms of investigators, so when one task force is handling a case, they may also be handling another; when complexity arises, priorities must be set regarding which cases to handle first,” said the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Taufik further explained that cases prioritised by the KPK include sting operations (OTT) and cases where suspects have already been detained.
He made these remarks in response to the KPK’s recent detention of a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the construction of the Lamongan Regency Government Building in East Java for the 2017–2019 fiscal year, despite the suspect being named on 6 September 2023.
Regarding that specific case, he noted that progress appeared slow because the KPK is working alongside experts to calculate state financial losses resulting from discrepancies between the contract and the actual building constructed.
“Consequently, investigators or the investigation team cannot confirm how long the calculation process will take, nor when the experts will be deployed to the field,” he said.
Previously, on 15 September 2023, the KPK announced the commencement of the investigation into the alleged corruption in the construction of the Lamongan Regency Government Building for the 2017–2019 fiscal year, identifying suspects whose identities were not initially disclosed to the public.
On 8 July 2025, the KPK announced that there were four suspects in the case. The anti-corruption agency stated it was calculating the actual state financial losses in collaboration with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
On 29 January 2026, the KPK announced it had received the state loss calculation report for the case from the BPKP. On 2 June 2026, the KPK revealed the identities of the suspects: Mokh. Sukiman (SKM), the Commitment Making Officer and Head of the Building and Environment Arrangement Section at the Lamongan Department of Public Housing, Residential Areas, and Cipta Karya; Ahmad Abdillah (ABD), Director of PT Agung Pradana Putra; Muhammad Yanuar Marzuki (MYM), Director of CV Absolute and Project Management Committee for the building construction; and Herman Dwi Haryanto (HDH), General Manager of Regional Division III for 2015-2019.
However, the KPK has only detained Sukiman, Abdillah, and Herman, while Yanuar will be processed at a later date. The state financial losses resulting from the case are estimated to reach Rp35.7 billion.
