Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested the postponement of the pretrial hearing for former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as its legal team is simultaneously handling four other court proceedings.

“The KPK, through its Legal Bureau, has filed for a postponement of today’s hearing, given that the team is concurrently attending four other pretrial hearings,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Budi further explained that the four proceedings taking place on the same day as Yaqut’s hearing concern the electronic national identity card case, a Ministry of Agriculture case, and two pretrial hearings at the Hulu Sungai Utara District Prosecutor’s Office.

Previously, on 9 August 2025, the KPK announced it had begun investigating a suspected corruption case involving the determination of quotas and the organisation of hajj pilgrimages at the Ministry of Religious Affairs during 2023-2024.

On 11 August 2025, the KPK announced that preliminary calculations of state losses in the case exceeded Rp1 trillion, and imposed travel bans on three individuals for a period of up to six months.

Those subject to the travel ban were Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Ishfah Abidal Aziz (also known as Gus Alex), and Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of hajj travel operator Maktour.

On 9 January 2026, the KPK announced that two of the three individuals under the travel ban had been named suspects in the alleged hajj quota corruption case, namely Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) and Ishfah Abidal Aziz (IAA).

Separately, Yaqut filed a pretrial motion challenging his suspect designation at the South Jakarta District Court on 10 February 2026, registered under case number 19/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.

The initial pretrial hearing was originally scheduled for 24 February 2026.

On 19 February 2026, the KPK announced the extension of the travel ban for Yaqut and Gus Alex only, whilst Fuad’s ban was not renewed.

Subsequently, on 24 February 2026, the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court declared that Yaqut’s pretrial hearing would be postponed, rescheduling it for 3 March 2026. The judges explained that the postponement was granted following a request from the KPK submitted by letter on 19 February 2026.
