KPK Requests Additional Rp 762 Billion Budget for 2027, Sahroni Suggests Asking for Rp 5 Trillion

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has proposed an additional budget of Rp 762.30 billion for the year 2027. During a meeting with House of Representatives Commission III, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that the indicative ceiling provided by the Ministry of Finance for 2027 had decreased. “There is a reduction of Rp 349 billion, or 22 per cent, compared to the DIPA for the 2026 fiscal year. So the indicative ceiling is Rp 1.23 trillion,” Setyo said at the parliamentary complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. Setyo explained that the indicative ceiling would be allocated to several programmes, including management support, corruption prevention and enforcement activities amounting to Rp 9.3 billion, personnel expenditure of Rp 1.31 billion, and goods expenditure of Rp 201.7 billion. “We are proposing an additional amount to the 2027 ceiling of Rp 762.30 billion,” Setyo stated. Responding to this, Deputy Chairman of House Commission III Ahmad Sahroni suggested that the KPK should request a larger budget increase, noting that President Prabowo Subianto has committed to approving any additional budget proposals from ministries and agencies. “But my suggestion, sir, just a suggestion, the President has already spoken. So if you display in your presentation what you are asking for, it will be granted. Sir, request Rp 5 trillion. Don’t be half-hearted,” Sahroni said. “Later, if the President does not grant it, we will open the video so that the President will give the KPK a budget equivalent to the Attorney General’s Office. Do we all agree, friends?” he added. However, Setyo maintained that the additional budget requested was already in line with his institution’s needs. “We also do not want to fabricate or inflate it too much, because as Mr Fitroh once conveyed, the submission route through Bappenas is also in process; we just need to request support for its smooth passage at the Ministry of Finance,” he concluded.
