KPK Reportedly Secures Around Rp1.5 Billion from Sting Operation in Bogor Regency

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reportedly found and secured around Rp1.5 billion in cash during a sting operation (OTT) in Bogor Regency, West Java.

“The evidence is Rp1.5 billion,” a source within the KPK told CNNIndonesia.com via written message on Thursday (20/8).

Several heads of local government agencies were said to have been caught in the covert operation. Some of them were reportedly already at the KPK office.

“Six people were brought in, heads of agencies,” the source continued.

The source said the KPK was carrying out further development to ensnare several other parties.

“Received money from a contractor amounting to Rp1.8 billion,” the same source said.

“The one who received money from a regional government contractor, the recipient was a staff member of the regent,” the source added.

CNNIndonesia.com has attempted to contact Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto to ask about the alleged arrest of agency heads in his region by the KPK through written messages and telephone calls. However, as of the writing of this report, the relevant telephone number was inactive.

CNNIndonesia.com has also contacted KPK leaders Setyo Budiyanto and Fitroh Rohcahyanto to confirm the sting operation. However, no answer had been received.

“Responding to information circulating in the public regarding reports of a sting operation in Bogor Regency, we clarify that the information is not true,” Budi said in a written statement on Thursday evening.

Nevertheless, Budi stated that other activities were indeed being carried out by the KPK in the area. The other activity in question was the questioning of several parties, following up on public reports.

“As for other activities by the KPK in the area, they do exist, but for now we cannot provide details,” Budi said.

“In due course we will certainly convey this to the public transparently,” he added.
