The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation team continues to probe and develop the alleged extortion case involving suspect Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, conducting a search lasting nearly 4.5 hours on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

Based on Media Indonesia’s observations, the anti-corruption team was seen carrying out approximately three suitcases from the Sukoharjo Regent’s Office. There was no explanation regarding what evidence was placed inside the three suitcases, which were immediately loaded into two Toyota Innova vehicles parked in the courtyard of the Sukoharjo Regency Government complex.

Sukoharjo Regional Secretary Abdul Haris Widodo, who was near the search location, only stated that the KPK team’s actions were aimed at finding evidence for the ongoing legal process. “The search earlier was to look for evidence,” the Regional Secretary explained to reporters, alongside several Regional Secretariat Assistants, when asked about the progress of the search in Regent Etik’s office by KPK officers.

While at the Sukoharjo Regency Government office complex, KPK officers also unsealed a number of rooms that had been sealed during the sting operation on Thursday the previous week. These included the office of Regent Etik, the Regional Secretary’s office, the office of Assistant 1 to the Regional Secretary, and the General Affairs Division Head’s office.

Abdul Haris could not specify whether other locations suspected of being visited by the KPK, such as the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (DPUPR) and the Regional Financial, Revenue and Asset Management Agency (BPKPAD), were also searched. “I don’t know, because I was only standing by here,” added Regional Secretary Abdul Haris.

It is clear that a number of rooms which had been sealed can now be used again following the search. This was a message from the KPK after the search concluded. “We hope this is resolved quickly,” he stated.
