KPK reminds BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to always manage workers' funds with caution
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reminded the board of directors of the Social Security Organising Agency (BPJS) Ketenagakerjaan for the 2026-2031 term to always exercise caution in managing workers’ funds. According to KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto, this principle of prudence can be applied through multi-layered mechanisms and the involvement of the board in every crucial decision-making process. “We must safeguard the trust that has been given, because the funds being managed represent a significant responsibility to provide maximum benefits for society,” Setyo stated in a confirmed remark in Jakarta on Thursday. In this way, he assessed that the potential for deviations or abuse of authority can be minimised. Meanwhile, KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto reminded the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan board not only to focus on system improvements but also to pay attention to human resources, which he considers a key factor in preventing corruption risks. “An approach to improving the quality of human resources needs to be carried out on a massive scale,” Fitroh said. He also urged the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan board to regard various past legal violations in several state-owned enterprises (BUMNs) as lessons learned. Meanwhile, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Saiful Hidayat stated that his organisation ensures the management of workers’ funds, which is a concern for the KPK, will continue to be upheld in accordance with the principles mandated by law, namely fund resilience, liquidity, and results that provide optimal benefits for participants. In addition, he said BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will follow up on various KPK recommendations outlined in the risk mapping study, in the form of strategic steps. “We hope to continue synergising, and of course we need to be guided, so that we can realise good corporate governance,” he said.
