KPK Rejects Forestry Minister Raja Juli's Report on Envelope from Kuansing Regent

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rejected a gratuity report from Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni regarding an envelope from the non-active Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby. “The KPK rejected the gratuity report from RJ,” said KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin to journalists on Friday, 17 July 2026. Aminudin stated the rejection occurred because the KPK is currently investigating an alleged bribery case involving Suhardiman Amby. “In KPK Regulation 1/2026 on Gratuity Reporting, it is stated that the KPK rejects a gratuity report if the reported gratuity has already entered the realm of an inspectorate audit, inquiry, or investigation by law enforcement officials,” he explained. The regulation cited by Aminudin refers to Article 14 of KPK Regulation Number 1 of 2026 on Gratuity Reporting, which stipulates the anti-corruption agency may not follow up on a gratuity report if it is suspected to be related to a criminal act. It was previously reported that the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, securing 10 individuals. This operation was the 14th sting operation carried out by the KPK in 2026. Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain subsequently surrendered to the KPK on 30 June 2026. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman Amby, Zulkarnain, and President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant Ardiles as suspects in an alleged bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government from 2021 to 2026. In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the release of limited production forest areas. After his name was implicated in the case, Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni explained on 3 July 2026 that during a meeting with Suhardiman on 2 June 2026, the regional head left behind a sealed envelope. According to Raja Juli, he only realised the envelope was there after Suhardiman had left the room. He then ordered his aide-de-camp to return the envelope without knowing its contents. Raja Juli stated the envelope was returned to Suhardiman via his aide in Kuantan Singingi Regency on 12 June 2026, after a delay due to scheduling conflicts. On 3 July 2026, Raja Juli also reported the gratuity rejection to the KPK.
