KPK: Regional Government Pay Rises No Guarantee Against Corruption

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that there is no correlation between pay rises for regional government officials and acts of corruption committed by public officials. This was conveyed by the Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, on Saturday (4/7), in response to a proposal from Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), which deemed a pay rise for regional government officials necessary as one of the measures to prevent graft.
