Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that it has not only received the return of money related to the alleged corruption case of the hajj quota from the preacher and owner of the hajj travel agency PT Zahra Oto Mandiri or Uhud Tour, Khalid Zeed Abdullah Basalamah (KB).

“KPK has not only received the return of money from Mr KB alone, but there are also returns from other PIHKs (special hajj pilgrimage organisers or hajj bureaus),” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.

Budi said there are still parties from hajj bureaus that have not returned the money related to the hajj quota case to the KPK.

“Therefore, on this occasion, KPK also urges other associations or PIHKs to follow the witnesses who have been cooperative in providing statements and returning the money from the filling of this hajj quota,” he said.

Previously, on 9 August 2025, KPK initiated an investigation into the alleged corruption case of the Indonesian hajj quota for 2023-2024.

On 9 January 2026, KPK named former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex as suspects.

Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of the hajj organiser bureau Maktour, was not named as a suspect, although he was once banned from leaving the country.

KPK then received the results of an audit by the Financial Audit Board (BPK) of Indonesia on 27 February 2026, which stated that the state financial loss in the case amounted to Rp622 billion.

Subsequently, on 12 March 2026, KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK’s Red and White Building Branch State Detention House, followed by the detention of Ishfah on 17 March 2026.

KPK temporarily changed Yaqut’s detention status to house arrest on 19 March 2026 at the family’s request, but re-detained him at the KPK Detention House on 24 March 2026.

On 30 March 2026, KPK named two new suspects, namely Maktour’s Operations Director Ismail Adham and the General Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Travel Agency Unity (Kesthuri) Asrul Aziz Taba.
