The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has received information indicating that some officials are still using official vehicles for personal purposes during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period. Consequently, KPK requests that every agency conduct an evaluation regarding the misuse of official vehicles for personal interests.

“KPK has received information about the ongoing misuse of official vehicles in several agencies for personal and non-official purposes. Therefore, we urge regional heads and inspectorates to immediately carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the misuse of official vehicles in their environments,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Saturday (28/3/2026).

Budi stated that the evaluation is crucial to ensure that there is no misuse of state facilities for personal interests, including during Eid homecoming activities. This evaluation also forms part of efforts to maintain the accountability and integrity of state officials.

“The evaluation is part of efforts to maintain the accountability and integrity of State Organisers (PN) and Civil Servants (ASN),” he said.

Budi explained that official vehicles, whether rented or owned by the state or region, are positional facilities. Their use is regulated solely for office operational or official purposes.

According to Budi, using official vehicles for personal purposes constitutes a deviation and could potentially serve as an entry point for corrupt practices. He noted that corruption risks do not only arise from the misuse of authority or positions but also from the misuse of state facilities.

“Practices that are often considered simple, such as using official vehicles for personal purposes, actually reflect conflicts of interest and can impact state financial losses as well as diminish public trust,” Budi stated.

To this end, KPK encourages the active role of regional inspectorates in conducting supervision and internal audits, including tracing the use of official vehicles during the Eid holiday period. Strengthening oversight functions is key to ensuring compliance and preventing repeated violations.
