KPK Ready to Partner with Ministry of Social Affairs to Prevent Corruption in People's School Programme
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated it is open to becoming a partner of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) to prevent corrupt practices in the People’s School programme.
“In the framework of corruption prevention, KPK is certainly open to becoming an early mitigation partner,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
Budi explained that KPK, in its prevention duties and functions, is also examining potential corruption in the programme.
“Yes, we will map how the policy is, how it is implemented in the field, how the business processes are, including in the scope of procurement of goods and services,” he said.
KPK, he said, will look at the procurement planning process for goods and services. Such as the preparation of the estimated own price (HPS) to the tender process.
“We are mitigating this from the beginning. So that later there is still room and gaps for parties to commit or for corruption offences to occur,” Budi revealed.
Previously, on 6 May 2026, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul stated he plans to meet with KPK leaders to obtain input regarding the procurement of goods and services in the People’s School programme.
According to Gus Ipul, in the meeting with KPK, all data and processes related to the procurement of goods for the operational needs of the People’s School will be presented, including the procurement of shoes for People’s School students which has recently been discussed on social media.
The minister said the meeting is planned for Thursday. However, KPK stated that the agenda is unlikely to be held on Thursday.
