Suspended Regent of Pati, Sudewo, underwent further examination as a suspect in the alleged extortion case of village apparatus candidates at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after a long absence, on Thursday (16/4).

After the examination, Sudewo expressed his longing for Pati and all its residents.

“Greetings to the residents of Pati Regency. I miss Pati Regency. I hope you are all well and that development proceeds smoothly. Here, I am healthy, Alhamdulillah. Let us pray for each other,” Sudewo said briefly before entering the KPK detention vehicle.

Sudewo, along with three others, is being prosecuted by the KPK. The handling of this case began with a Catch Operation (OTT) earlier this year.

The other three suspects are Abdul Suyono, Head of Karangrowo Village, Jakenan Subdistrict; Sumarjiono, Head of Arumanis Village, Jaken Subdistrict; and Karjan, Head of Sukorukun Village, Jaken Subdistrict.

They are already detained at the KPK State Detention Centre (Rutan) and charged under Article 12 letter e of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code.

In the said silent operation, the KPK uncovered allegations of extortion practices in several subdistricts in Pati. The KPK has not yet provided detailed information.

Pati Regency has a total of 21 subdistricts, 401 villages, and 5 urban villages. It is estimated that there are currently 601 vacant village apparatus positions.

Meanwhile, the KPK has stated it is open to developing the investigation of this case after raiding the residence of former Acting Regional Secretary of Pati, Riyoso, on Friday (27/2).

From the search at Riyoso’s residence, the KPK seized several documents and Electronic Evidence (BBE) that could support the resolution of the alleged extortion case.

Riyoso, who also previously served as Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) of Pati, has been examined by the KPK as a witness some time ago.

At that time, the KPK delved into matters regarding village fund planning, one component of which is for village apparatus salary payments, with recruitment opened in March this year.
