KPK Raids Three Vice-Rectors' Homes and Banyumas Regional Secretary's Office Over Unsoed Rector Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has raided six locations related to the extortion case involving the independent admission pathway for new students at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), which implicates the Rector, Akhmad Sodiq (ASO).
The locations searched included the residences of three Vice-Rectors, the office of the Banyumas Regional Secretary (Sekda), and the home of a lecturer.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the raids were conducted in a marathon fashion from Wednesday to Thursday, 9-10 September 2026. “The series of searches was carried out at the homes of Vice-Rectors I, II, and IV, the house of a lecturer, as well as the office of the Banyumas Regional Secretary,” Budi told reporters on Friday (11/9/2026).
Regarding the search of the Banyumas Regional Secretary’s office, Budi stated that investigators suspect the Secretary’s office may have been aware of the extortion practices within the Unsoed student admission process. “The individual concerned is suspected of knowing about the provision of recommendations so that students who had provided a certain amount of money were subsequently admitted to Unsoed,” Budi explained.
Additionally, another location searched was the home of a high school teacher in the Tasikmalaya region. This teacher is suspected of acting as a collector of the ‘requirement’ funds for entering Unsoed. “Suspected to be the coordinator for collecting funds from prospective students,” Boded added.
From this series of raids, investigators obtained documents and electronic evidence believed to be related to the extortion practices in the new student admission process. “Investigators found several documents and electronic evidence, including those related to the placement of prospective students at Unsoed,” he added.
Previously, in mid-August, investigators had searched the homes of the suspects in this case as well as the Unsoed Rectorate Office. At that time, investigators found a letter issued by the KPK regarding the improvement of the independent admission process. In that circular, the KPK encouraged increased transparency from the beginning to the end of the entire independent admission process. The arrest of Rector Akhmad Sodiq presents a particular irony given this context.
It is known that Rector Akhmad Sodiq and five others have been named suspects in the extortion and gratification case related to the admission of new students through the independent selection pathway. The KPK has revealed that there are three clusters in the handling of this case.
In this matter, the KPK has named six suspects, namely:
Akhmad Sodiq (Rector of Unsoed)
Norman Arie Prayoga (Vice-Rector III of Unsoed)
Eko Sumanto (Head of Academic Division, Unsoed)
Dian Mulia Wardhana (Private individual)
Adhi Wiharto (Private individual)
Mulyono (Private individual)
