KPK Raids Sukoharjo Regent's 'Safe House' in Solo
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a search on Thursday of a ‘safe house’ belonging to Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, located in Laweyan, Solo, Central Java. The search at the residence on Jalan Jagalan RT 02/RW 05, Bumi Village, lasted approximately 1.5 hours. Following the search, officers carried two black suitcases into a vehicle, and the group left the residence around 11.00 WIB. A local resident, identified as E, stated that the KPK and police team arrived around 09.30 WIB and went directly to the residence. E noted that the house belongs to Etik’s parents and is currently occupied by her younger sibling, Erwan, though Etik lived there during her childhood. The KPK previously announced a sting operation resulting in the arrest of Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani over alleged extortion by the regional head in Central Java. A KPK spokesperson confirmed the case involves allegations of extortion by the regent against officials within the Sukoharjo district government.
