The KPK is continuing its investigation into the corruption case involving the inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi. Most recently, the KPK searched two locations in Madiun City related to allegations of money laundering.

“Today, there are two locations: the Trade Office and also the Regional Finance and Asset Agency of Madiun City,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026).

The search was conducted to find additional evidence regarding alleged other receipts obtained by Maidi. This development is being carried out outside the primary case, which was linked to the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (Dinas PUPR).

“Investigators have a need to find additional evidence regarding alleged other receipts carried out by certain state officials in Madiun City, outside of the PUPR case,” he said. “Because the main case is within the PUPR Department, we are now targeting other departments, including elements of money laundering.”

Budi stated that investigators suspect funds received from several Regional Government Organisations (OPD) were transferred in form or ownership. Consequently, investigators are also tracing assets suspected to be related to the proceeds of criminal acts.

“There is an allegation that money received from several OPDs was subsequently converted, hidden, or transferred into the names of other parties. This is what has become the investigators’ focus in tracing related assets,” Budi explained.

It is known that the KPK is investigating a new case which is an expansion of the alleged extortion and gratification case involving the inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi. This new case pertains to alleged money laundering.

“Investigators are expanding the investigation after finding criminal events involving alleged gratification and money laundering,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists on Wednesday (23/9).

Budi explained that investigators are still using a general investigation order (sprindik). He noted that investigators have not yet named any suspects in this specific expansion.

“Currently, it is still a general sprindik; no suspects have been named yet. The new sprindik was issued in September 2026,” he said.

The KPK has summoned five witnesses. Of the five witnesses called, three had previously been examined in the initial case. The examinations were conducted at the Madiun City KPPN office.

Maidi himself has been sentenced to 7 years and 2 months in prison in a separate corruption case. KPK prosecutors also demanded that Maidi pay restitution of more than Rp 8 billion.

The indictment was read by KPK prosecutor Palupi Wiryawan during the trial at the Tipikor Court of the Surabaya District Court on Thursday (17/9). In the indictment, the prosecutor believed Maidi was proven to have committed corruption.

“The criminal indictment against the defendant Maidi includes a prison sentence of 7 years and 2 months,” said prosecutor Palupi Wiryawan. In addition to the prison sentence, Maidi is also facing a fine of Rp 205 million and a requirement to pay restitution amounting to Rp 8,005,384,790.
