Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided the Class I Immigration Checkpoint Office in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday (19/6). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the search, stating it was a follow-up to an investigation into the alleged extortion of foreign nationals in the processing of immigration documents, specifically Limited Stay Permit Cards (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permit Cards (KITAP).

Prasetyo said the search was still ongoing and further details would be provided once the process was complete. The raid is part of a broader case that saw the KPK conduct a sting operation on 2–3 June 2026, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals, including eight state officials and nine private sector intermediaries.

On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight suspects in the case, which involves alleged extortion in the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals between 2022 and 2026 within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The suspects are believed to have amassed illicit profits totalling Rp145.5 billion.

Among those named as suspects are Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim, who previously served as Director General of Immigration from 2023 to 2024; Acting Director General of Immigration Saffar Muhammad Godam, who served from 2024 to 2025; Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra, who previously served as Director of Stay Permits and Immigration Status; and Head of the Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta Ronald Arman Abdullah. Other suspects include Head of Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Stay Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Head of the Limited Stay Permit Transfer Status Team Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Sub-Directorate of Stay Permits staff member Gusti Benardiansyah.
