The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted searches at a total of 15 locations in connection with the extortion case involving the suspended Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro. The searches took place last week.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the searches were carried out from Wednesday (5/8) to Saturday (8/8). The locations included ten houses in Pemalang, two houses in Tegal, two houses in Pekalongan, and one house in Semarang.

During the searches, investigators seized a number of documents. CCTV footage from a hotel in Magelang was also confiscated by the KPK.

“Investigators seized several documents, including those related to projects currently and soon to be undertaken at the Pemalang Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, as well as electronic evidence in the form of mobile phones and electronic files,” he said. “Additionally, the investigation team also seized CCTV recordings at a hotel located in Magelang,” he added.

The KPK had previously named Anom as a suspect in an extortion case following a sting operation. The KPK arrested Anom at a hotel in Jakarta.

“This is the series of events in Jakarta. The regent at the hotel, that is correct, he was secured at the hotel. However, the parties with the regent are still being investigated because, as we previously stated, there were 21 people who were secured,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference at the KPK building in Jakarta, Thursday (30/7/2026).

The KPK also found money in Anom’s car that was brought to Jakarta. The KPK is open to developing this case towards gratification.

“We also found other money in the car that the regent brought to Jakarta. Then there was money we found at the media house, the regent’s campaign house during the regional election,” he said.

During the sting operation, the KPK also secured evidence worth Rp 2.7 billion, consisting of:

  • Cash at the house of Mohamad Haris amounting to Rp 300 million;

  • Cash at a ‘media house’ amounting to Rp 80 million;

  • A bank book under the name of Mohamad Haris, suspected to be a holding account, containing Rp 670 million. The money has since been withdrawn from the account and secured by the KPK;

  • A suitcase in Anom Widiyantoro’s car containing cash amounting to Rp 451 million, secured in Jakarta.
