The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided the home of a civil servant at the Madiun City Environmental Office and three other locations belonging to private parties on Thursday (9 April). The searches were carried out to seek additional evidence related to the handling of a case of alleged extortion in the guise of project fees and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, as well as other receipts or gratuities within the Madiun City Government. “In the searches conducted in stages, the team secured several documents and Electronic Evidence (BBE) believed to be related and able to clarify the matter in this investigation stage,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Friday (10 April). Budi added that investigators would analyse each piece of evidence to strengthen the proof and complete the investigation file. Over the past week, the KPK has conducted marathon searches in Madiun City, East Java. A total of 12 locations were targeted, including the residence of the Head of the Madiun City Communication and Informatics Office, the home of the local PDAM Director, and private parties. “In those searches, investigators secured a number of BBE and documents believed to be related to the case, namely alleged extortion through project fees and CSR funds as well as other receipts or gratuities within the Madiun City Government,” said Budi on Wednesday (8 April). The KPK has already processed three suspects in this case. They consist of the inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi; Maidi’s trusted aide named Rochim Ruhdiyanto; and the Head of the Madiun City Public Works and Public Housing Office (PUPR), Thariq Megah. The suspects have been detained to undergo further investigation. The case implicating Maidi and his associates was uncovered by the KPK through a Sting Operation (OTT) conducted in January 2026. The KPK found and seized cash evidence amounting to Rp550 million in that covert operation. From the OTT, the KPK also uncovered alleged corruption in the form of demands for fees for issuing permits within the Madiun City Government to business actors such as hotels, minimarkets, and franchises. In the ongoing investigation process, the KPK has already searched many places, including Maidi’s private home, Thariq’s private home, the Mayor’s Office, and several city department offices in Madiun. Numerous pieces of evidence believed to be related to the case, such as documents and cash, were successfully seized.
