JAKARTA — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is questioning two witnesses in connection with a case of alleged corruption involving the acceptance of gifts or promises in the handling of a land dispute at the Depok District Court (PN Depok) on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The two witnesses are Timoty Ezra Simanjuntak, Managing Partner of S&P Law Office, and Jokki Obi Mesa Situmeang, Senior Associate at S&P Law Office. ‘The questioning was conducted at the KPK’s Gedung Merah Putih,’ said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement on Thursday. However, the KPK has not disclosed the substance of the witnesses’ testimonies. Acting Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, said the designation of suspects was based on sufficient evidence in the alleged corruption offence of receiving gifts or promises related to the handling of the land dispute at PN Depok. ‘KPK has escalated the case to the investigation stage by naming five suspects,’ he said at a press conference at the KPK Merah Putih Building in Jakarta, Friday (6 February 2026). ‘KPK subsequently detained the suspects for the first 20 days from 6 to 25 February 2025,’ he added. Detention was carried out at the State Detention Centre (Rutan) branch of the Gedung Merah Putih KPK. The KPK notes that the alleged corruption case originated from a request to expedite eviction of land submitted by PT Karabha Digdaya (KD), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Finance, to PN Depok. After the ruling became final, PT Karabha Digdaya in January 2025 filed a request for eviction. However, by February 2025, the eviction had not yet been carried out. ‘PT KD also repeatedly submitted eviction requests to PN Depok because the land would be used soon,’ he said. On the other hand, the public filed a petition for reconsideration (peninjauan kembali) in February 2025.
