KPK questions Ponorogo officials over Sugiri Sancoko corruption case
Surabaya - KPK investigators questioned several civil servants from Ponorogo Regency Government as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged gratification and money laundering involving former regent Sugiri Sancoko.
The questioning took place at the East Java BPKP (Financial and Development Monitoring Agency) representative office in Sidoarjo on Monday from 1pm to approximately 5:30pm WIB.
Several Ponorogo Regency civil servants were seen leaving the BPKP building in turns after their interviews with KPK investigators.
Syarifudin Rakib, legal counsel for a Ponorogo Health Department civil servant and a PPK (Commitment Maker) identified as SPM, stated after accompanying his client: “Today, the KPK team is conducting interviews related to the development of the case involving former Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko, including the regent’s secretary and the director of Dr. Harjono Regional Hospital.”
He added that the questioning focused on connections between various parties involved in the alleged gratification and previous KPK sting operations.
Rakib said his client was asked around 25 questions, predominantly concerning community health centre construction packages in Ponorogo.
He stressed that his client was only questioned as a witness and has no legal connection to the gratification or money laundering case under investigation by the KPK.
“There is no legal correlation. The key point is to determine if there is any connection to the ongoing case,” he stated.
“Indeed, the KPK is expanding the investigation into alleged gratification and money laundering offences,” he confirmed in a written statement.
During the questioning at the East Java BPKP office, the KPK summoned a total of 13 witnesses, including civil servants from Ponorogo Regency Government, health department officials, hospital staff, private parties, and Brilink agents.
Names of those questioned included Ponorogo Health Department Head DAP, Health Department Resource Management Head MSZ, Health Department Secretary MFP, Procurement Head of the Regency Secretariat BDW, Administrative Deputy Director of Dr. Harjono Regional Hospital MRW, and Bajang Village Head NSW.
Additionally, the KPK questioned several private parties and project contractors suspected of knowledge about the project flows and processes under investigation.
