KPK Questions Head of East Java’s BKD Regarding the Appointment of Director of Ponorogo Regional Hospital
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the Head of the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) of East Java, Indah Wahyuni, regarding the mechanism for appointing the director of a regional hospital, who comes from the staff of the Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD), during an examination in Jakarta and at the State Treasury Service Office (KPPN) in Madiun.
Indah was examined in her capacity as a witness to complete the case file of the suspects, Ponorogo Regent for the 2021-2025 and 2025-2030 periods, Sugiri Sukoco, and others.
“That’s correct,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when confirmed via a written message on Wednesday (25 February).
Budi explained that the case in Ponorogo is divided into three clusters, namely alleged bribery related to the buying and selling of positions, bribery related to projects, and the acceptance of gratification.
“This bribery related to positions is connected to the director,” he said.
“Every raid (Operasi Tangkap Tangan/OTT) serves as an entry point for the KPK to see more broadly whether there are similar practices for other positions, so the examination of the witnesses is needed, including to explain how the process of appointing the Director of the Ponorogo Regional Hospital, who has been designated as a suspect, was carried out,” Budi continued.
Meanwhile, Indah Wahyuni has provided a press statement regarding the examination.
“I would like to emphasise that I was examined as a witness, and it can even be said that I was examined as an expert witness because the questions asked to me were related to regulations. There is no connection with the buying and selling of positions,” said Indah in Surabaya on Tuesday (24 February).
The KPK has named four people as suspects in this case in Ponorogo.
They are Regent Sugiri Sukoco, the Regional Secretary of Ponorogo Regency since 2012 until now, Agus Pramono, the Director of Dr. Harjono Regional Hospital, Yunus Mahatma, and a private party, a contractor for the Ponorogo Regional Hospital in a work package within the Ponorogo Regency, Sucipto.
For their actions, Sucipto, in relation to the work package within the Ponorogo Regency Government, is suspected of committing the crime of corruption as regulated in Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b and/or Article 13 of the Law on Eradication of Corruption Crimes (UU Tipikor).
Meanwhile, Sugiri, together with Yunus Mahatma, is suspected of committing the crime of corruption as regulated in Article 12 letter a or b and/or Article 11 and/or Article 12B of the UU Tipikor in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) clause 1 of the Criminal Code.
Furthermore, Yunus, in relation to the handling of the position, is suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b and/or Article 13 of the UU Tipikor.
As for Sugiri, together with Agus Pramono, they are suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or b and/or Article 11 and/or Article 12B of the UU Tipikor in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) clause 1 of the Criminal Code.
The suspects have been detained at the State Detention Centre (Rutan) branch of Merah Putih KPK.
