KPK Questions Funding Source for Construction of 13 Official Residences at Cibinong Prison
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scrutinised the presence of buildings within the area of the Class IIA Cibinong Prison in West Java. The KPK has detected several buildings suspected of not being included in the State Property Management and Accounting Information System (SIMAK BMN).
Based on investigations, there are a total of 16 units of official residences at the Cibinong Prison. However, only three houses are recorded in the SIMAK BMN. This indicates an anomaly regarding the other 13 units, as they remain unrecorded. KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, stated that this information is critical if facilities were indeed constructed without using the State Budget (APBN) or the Budget Implementation List (DIPA).
“Further investigation is required to determine who provided these luxury facilities? Who permitted such luxury facilities to exist in several rooms within this prison? Furthermore, who authorised certain inmates to receive such luxury facilities?” Budi told reporters in Jakarta on Monday (28/09/2026).
Budi mentioned that the KPK has not ruled out communication with the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (KemenImipas) regarding this matter to uncover the truth about the alleged luxury facilities at Cibinong Prison. The KPK, he added, recognises that the fact-finding process requires gathering information from various parties.
“This also requires further investigation, in-depth study, and requests for statements from several parties who are aware of and can explain how these practices occurred,” said Budi.
