KPK Questions Acting Regent of Tulungagung as It Probes Money Flows in Gatot Sunu Wibowo Corruption Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is questioning the Acting Regent of Tulungagung and simultaneously the Vice Regent Ahmad Baharudin (AB) to delve into the money flows in the case of alleged extortion that has ensnared the non-active Tulungagung Regent Gatot Sunu Wibowo.
“Witnesses have appeared to provide statements to investigators regarding alleged payments to the Regent,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Friday.
In addition to Ahmad Baharudin, Budi said the KPK is examining the same matter with several witnesses who were questioned on 21-22 May 2026.
They are the Acting Head of Tulungagung Education Department Deni Susanti, the Head of Tulungagung Transportation Department Iswahjudi, the Head of Tulungagung Population and Civil Registration Nina Hartiani, the Acting Head of Tulungagung Housing and Settlement Areas Agus Sulistiono, and the Head of Tulungagung Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Slamet Sunarto.
Next, the Head of Tulungagung Communications and Informatics Suparni, the Head of Tulungagung Fisheries Robinson Parsaoran Nadeak, the Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning Tulungagung Erwin Novianto, and Sugeng Riadi as the Regent’s aide.
Thereafter, the Head of Tulungagung Food Security Sony Welli Ahmadi, the Head of Investment and the Integrated One-Stop Service Tulungagung Imroatul Mufidah, the Head of Youth and Sports Tulungagung Achmad Mugiyono, the Head of Fire and Rescue Tulungagung Lugu Tri Handoko, and the Head of Livestock and Animal Health Tulungagung Agus Suswantoro.
There is also the former Acting Head of Community Empowerment and Village Administration Tulungagung Hari Prastijo, Director of Campurdarat Regional General Hospital Dr. Karneni Tulungagung Rio Ardona, Tulungagung DPRD Secretary Rahadi Puspita Bintara, and a civil servant identified by initials GL.
Earlier, the KPK conducted a hand-catching operation (OTT) in Tulungagung, East Java on 10 April 2026.
The KPK arrested 18 individuals in that OTT, including Gatot Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.
A day later, on 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatot Sunu Wibowo and his brother along with 11 others to Jakarta for intensive examination.
On the same date, the KPK announced Gatot Sunu Wibowo (GSW) together with Dwi Yoga Ambal (YOG) as an aide, as suspects in a case of alleged extortion and other payments within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The KPK suspects Gatot Sunu extorted regional officials in the Tulungagung Regency Government using the modus operandi of a resignation letter from office and civil servant status.
The letter has been signed and stamped, but the date has not yet been written.
With this modus, the KPK suspects Gatot Sunu Wibowo obtained up to Rp2.7 billion from a target of Rp5 billion from 16 regional work units heads (SKPD) or regional devices (OPD) within the Tulungagung Regency government.
