KPK Pursues Deputy Immigration Minister Silmy Karim Regarding West Jakarta Immigration Sting
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, is part of the series of sting operations (OTT) related to an alleged corruption case at the West Jakarta Immigration Office. As of now, the anti-corruption agency’s enforcement team is still conducting a search for Silmy.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that Silmy’s involvement is an extension of the undercover operation that previously ensnared the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah. “It is true, this is part of the series of sting operations in West Jakarta,” Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday (3/6).
Budi emphasised that the investigative team is currently active in the field to locate Silmy Karim. The KPK has urged the former President Director of Krakatau Steel to be cooperative and to surrender himself immediately to undergo the legal process. “The team is still conducting searches. The KPK requests that all parties be cooperative in the ongoing legal process,” Budi asserted.
Previously, KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed enforcement activities against several officials within the West Jakarta Immigration Office environment. This operation was conducted simultaneously across three different regions: West Jakarta, West Java, and Bali.
As part of this series of sting operations, the KPK has detained dozens of individuals, including the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Armran Abdullah. In addition to detaining the suspects, investigators have also seized various assets and evidence suspected to be related to the corruption crime. “In terms of progress, dozens of people have been detained in this series of sting operations. The evidence seized ranges from vehicles to cash and precious metals,” Budi concluded.
The KPK is still conducting intensive examinations of the detained parties to determine their legal status within a 24-hour period.
