JAKARTA — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors have requested the panel of judges to disregard the defence plea submitted by former Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, alias Noel.

The statement was made during the defence hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday, 25 May 2026.

“We respond that any statements made by the defendant’s legal counsel in their plea are assumptions not supported by evidence,” the prosecutors said.

According to the prosecutors, the charging document was based on evidence presented during the trial, including witness testimonies and electronic evidence.

“Therefore, we believe that responses challenging our analysis in the charging document are unfounded,” they added.

The prosecutors therefore asked the panel of judges to reject the defence plea and accept the previous prosecution demand.

“Thus, we request the panel of judges to disregard the defence from the defendant’s legal counsel and accept our prosecution demand as read on 18 May 2026,” they stated.

“In response to what the prosecutors have said, we affirm that our defence plea is based on evidence presented during the trial,” said Noel’s legal representatives.

Therefore, Noel’s team maintains their defence plea and requests the panel of judges to grant their defence.

“And what we have submitted in the defence plea should be considered in the verdict,” they added.
