A Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor displayed a photograph of Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) member Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana during a trial for a customs import bribery case. The photo was presented to explain how Blueray Cargo boss John Field initially became acquainted with former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs and Excise, Rizal.

John Field was examined as a defendant in the bribery case concerning goods imports at Customs and Excise at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (12 June 2026). Initially, John claimed he did not know that his mobile number had been given to Rizal by Nyoman.

“Before you could contact Mr Rizal, did you know that there was another party who conveyed that you wanted to meet Mr Rizal?” asked KPK prosecutor Takdir.

“No. What I knew was that in Mr Rizal’s mobile number, it was written John Nyoman. From that, I thought, ‘Oh, there’s the name Nyoman, do I know him?’ I said I knew him. But I didn’t know it was from Nyoman,” John replied.

The prosecutor then displayed a photograph of Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana. John confirmed the photo was of the Nyoman he knew.

“With the panel’s permission, we will show Mr Nyoman’s face. Is this the Mr Nyoman you meant?” the prosecutor asked.

“Yes,” John answered.

For context, Nyoman Adhi was formerly an employee at Customs and Excise and once served as Head of Customs and Excise for the DJBC Regional Office of Sulawesi, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara in 2019. Nyoman has been a member of the BPK since 2021.

“He was formerly a Customs and Excise employee and is now serving at the Audit Board of Indonesia,” the prosecutor stated.

John admitted he had forgotten how he first met Nyoman Adhi, saying he rarely communicated with him anymore.

“So was it Mr Nyoman who also facilitated the recommendation for Mr John to get to know Mr Rizal?” the prosecutor asked.

“I forgot who gave me Mr Rizal’s number. Because Mr Rizal is at headquarters, anyone could have given me his number,” John said.

“Because in the trial facts of Mr Rizal, he was able to get Mr John’s mobile contact because it was provided by Mr Nyoman. That is why in the phonebook, as Mr Rizal stated, the WhatsApp contact name is John Nyoman BPK BR, because of that,” the prosecutor added.

“Yes,” John replied.

In this case, KPK prosecutors have charged three Blueray Cargo executives in a bribery case related to goods importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). The three defendants are John Field as head of Blueray Cargo, Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo as Operational Manager, and Andri as head of the Blueray Cargo document team.

The prosecutors stated that the three provided money amounting to Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollar currency. In addition to money, the three are also accused of providing a number of facilities and luxury goods worth Rp 1.8 billion.

“With the intention that the official would act or refrain from acting in their official capacity, namely to expedite the release of Blueray Cargo Group’s imported goods from customs supervision at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, contrary to their obligations,” the KPK prosecutor stated when reading the indictment at the Jakarta Central Corruption Court on Thursday (6 May).

detikcom has attempted to contact the BPK for a response regarding the display of the BPK member’s photo in the trial, but has not yet received a response.
