JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has filed an appeal against the verdict for former Supreme Court (MA) Secretary Nurhadi in the case of receiving gratification and money laundering offences (TPPU).

Based on a search of the official website of the Central Jakarta District Court Case Tracking Information System (SIPP PN JAKPUS), both the JPU and defendant Nurhadi have filed appeals.

“Status, Appellant Public Prosecutor,” as quoted from SIPP PN Jakpus, Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Nurhadi’s side has claimed they will soon file an appeal after the verdict is read.

Based on information received by Kompas.com, the defendant’s side will only officially submit the appeal documents near the deadline.

“We discussed it earlier, we will appeal,” said Nurhadi’s Legal Advisor, Maqdir Ismail, when providing clarification after the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday (1/3/2026).

“Whatever it is, a decision like this not only doesn’t make sense, but it wounds our conscience, it wounds justice, yes,” said Maqdir.

“In trying, imposing a sentence on the defendant with a prison term of 5 years with a fine of Rp500 million subsidiary 140 days in prison,” said the Chief Judge Fajar Kusuma Aji when reading the verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday (1/4/2026).

In addition to the principal sentence, the panel of judges also sentenced Nurhadi to pay restitution of Rp137.1 billion subsidiary 3 years in prison.

The judges were convinced that the Rp11.03 billion was gratification because it was not reported to the KPK within at most 30 days after receipt.

The panel of judges rejected Nurhadi’s defence claim that the fund flows were actions by Rezky, not himself.

The judges assessed that Nurhadi and Rezky had a strong relationship that is hard to refute.
