KPK Proposes Rp 774 Billion Budget Increase for 2027 During DPR Commission III Meeting
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has proposed an additional budget of Rp 774.31 billion for the 2027 fiscal year. This funding is intended to strengthen anti-corruption eradication efforts.
This was stated by KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto during a working meeting with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/9/2026). He noted that the KPK has been allocated a 2027 budget ceiling of Rp 1.447 trillion.
“The KPK’s budget ceiling has decreased by Rp 134 billion, or an 8.4 percent drop, compared to the 2026 budget allocation,” said Setyo.
Setyo stated that the 2026 budget conditions have already caused obstacles in the KPK’s duties, including sub-optimal anti-corruption prevention activities.
“We can also report that with the current KPK budget conditions in 2026, the KPK has experienced several hurdles in task execution and output achievement, including less optimal anti-corruption prevention and monitoring activities, coordination and supervision of case handling, as well as the functions of the KPK Supervisory Board being hindered by budget constraints,” he explained.
He assessed that the budget reduction is not merely an administrative issue, as it poses a risk to the reach of corruption eradication.
“This means the space to prevent corruption, oversee governance improvements, and involve the public is becoming increasingly limited. However, the success of the KPK is not only measured by how many cases are handled, but also by how much potential state loss can be prevented,” he clarified.
Setycro proposed an additional budget of Rp 774.31 billion. Of this, Rp 155.68 billion would be allocated to management support programmes, while Rp 618.61 billion would be dedicated to prevention and enforcement programmes.
He explained that the largest requirement is for information and data functions, amounting to Rp 376.84 billion. However, Setyo noted that only Rp 58.4 billion is currently available in the 2027 ceiling.
“As per the conclusion of the working meeting on 17 June, where the KPK’s budget proposal was to be fought for an increase of Rp 989.3 billion, in order to implement national priority outputs in achieving the 2027 Government Work Plan (RKP) and to carry out the KPK’s duties and functions as mandated by Law No. 19 of 2019, we propose an additional ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year of Rp 774.31 billion,” he explained.
Setyo stated that the requirements for prevention and monitoring reach Rp 101.46 billion, noting that the current allocation remains insufficient.
Furthermore, the KPK requires an additional Rp 61 billion for enforcement and execution, Rp 56.99 billion for education and public participation, Rp 36.68 billion for prevention and monitoring, and Rp 57.39 billion for coordination and supervision.
“Coordination and supervision serve as an extension of our reach in guarding integrity across all corners of the country, from provinces to regencies and cities,” he said.
“This addition serves as an important bulwark to maintain the KPK’s presence in regional areas and to strengthen the synergy of law enforcement nationally,” Setyo added.
Setyo emphasised that budget limitations significantly affect the execution of the KPK’s duties and expressed hope that the proposal would be approved.
“These budget constraints have the potential to affect the optimisation of the KPK’s mandate in supporting national priority agendas as well as maintaining the effectiveness of comprehensive anti-corruption efforts,” he concluded.
