Secretary General of PKS, Muhammad Kholid, responded to the KPK’s recommendations on party governance, one of which is limiting the leadership term of political party chairmen to a maximum of two periods. Kholid stated that PKS already applies this regulation.

“We appreciate the KPK’s proposal regarding the limitation of political party chair positions to two periods. This will strengthen the regeneration and leadership cadre process in political parties. In PKS, we already have regulations that set a maximum limit of two periods,” Kholid said to reporters on Friday (24/4/2026).

Nevertheless, Kholid respects the internal mechanisms of each political party. According to him, the regeneration and cadre system is the right of every political party.

“However, we also respect the internal democratic mechanisms of each party. It is the political right of every political party to determine the regeneration and cadre mechanisms internally,” he added.

Kholid also responded to the KPK’s proposal that presidential and vice-presidential candidates should be part of the party’s cadre. Kholid described this as a good initiative to produce national leadership.

“Regarding the nomination of presidential and vice-presidential candidates as party cadres, I see this as a good proposal. Because the constitution assigns political parties the task of producing national leadership,” he added.

It is known that the KPK has conducted a study on political party governance to prevent corruption. One of them is the KPK’s proposal for a limitation on the leadership term of political party chairmen to two periods.

This study was conducted by the KPK in 2025 through the Monitoring Directorate. The KPK identified four points that need improvement in Indonesia’s party system and provided 16 recommendations.

“To ensure the implementation of cadreisation, there needs to be a regulation limiting the leadership of the party chairman to a maximum of two periods of tenure,” states one of the recommendations in the KPK’s study results, on Thursday (23/4).
