KPK Probes Tulungagung Deputy Regent in Extortion Case Involving Regent Gatut Sunu

Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned the Acting Regent of Tulungagung, who simultaneously serves as Tulungagung Deputy Regent Ahmad Baharudin (AB).

The questioning was conducted to probe the flow of money in the alleged extortion case involving the suspended Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

“The witnesses appeared to provide information to investigators regarding the alleged giving to the Regent,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Friday, 22 May 2026.

In addition to Ahmad Baharudin, the KPK said it is examining the same matter with a number of other witnesses who were questioned on 21-22 May 2026. They include the Acting Head of Tulungagung Education Office Deni Susanti, Head of Tulungagung Transportation Service Iswahjudi, Head of Tulungagung Population and Civil Registry Nina Hartiani, Acting Head of Housing and Settlement Tulungagung Agus Sulistiono, and Head of Tulungagung Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Slamet Sunarto.

Also present were Tulungagung Head of Communication and Informatics Suparni, Head of Fisheries Tulungagung Robinson Parsaoran Nadeak, Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning Tulungagung Erwin Novianto, and Sugeng Riadi, said to be the Regent’s aide.

Next were Tulungagung Head of Food Security Sony Welli Ahmadi, Head of Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Imroatul Mufidah, Head of Youth and Sports Achmad Mugiyono, Head of Fire and Rescue Tulungagung Lugu Tri Handoko, and Head of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Tulungagung Agus Suswantoro.

Also present were former Acting Head of Community Empowerment and Village Administration Tulungagung Hari Prastijo, Campurdarat Regional General Hospital Director Dr Karneni Tulungagung Rio Ardona, Secretary of the Tulungagung DPRD Rahadi Puspita Bintara, and a civil servant with initials GL.

Earlier, the KPK conducted an arrest operation (OTT) in Tulungagung, East Java on 10 April 2026.

The KPK arrested 18 people in that OTT, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother, who is also a Tulungagung DPRD member, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro.

A day later, 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother along with 11 other individuals to Jakarta for intensive questioning.

On the same day, the KPK announced Gatut Sunu Wibowo (GSW) together with Dwi Yoga Ambal (YOG) as suspects in a case of alleged extortion and other payments within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
