In today’s examination, investigators sought statements and confirmation from the witness regarding the arrangement of projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is delving into the arrangement of projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu, from BD, the Deputy Chairman of the Democratic National Amanat Party (PAN) Rejang Lebong branch. BD was examined by the KPK on Tuesday (12/5), as a witness in the alleged bribery case implicating Muhammad Fikri Thobari during his tenure as Regent of Rejang Lebong. “In today’s examination, investigators sought statements and confirmation from the witness regarding the arrangement of projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. Additionally, Budi said the KPK is probing the witness BD’s knowledge of the alleged receipt of money by Fikri Thobari. Previously, on 9 March 2026, the KPK arrested Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, Deputy Regent Hendri, and 11 others in a sting operation (OTT) related to alleged bribery for projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu. On 10 March 2026, the KPK brought the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong, along with seven others, to Jakarta for intensive examinations. On the same day, the KPK announced Muhammad Fikri Thobari as one of five suspects in the alleged criminal corruption case involving bribery. On 11 March 2026, the KPK announced the identities of the suspects, namely MFT, the Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Area Department of Rejang Lebong HEP, IRS from PT SMS, EDM from CV MU, and YK from CV AA. These five suspects are alleged to be involved in bribery related to project down payments within the Rejang Lebong Regency Government, Bengkulu, for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The KPK suspects MFT of demanding project kickbacks of around 10–15% from the three private entities. The money is alleged to have been used for certain interests, including plans for the distribution of holiday allowances (THR).
