KPK Probes Jakarta Railway Official Over Alleged DJKA Project Fees
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the knowledge of Ferdian Suryo Adhi Pramono, Head of the Class I Railway Engineering Centre (BTP) Jakarta, regarding alleged fees or kickbacks for projects under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Ministry of Transportation. “Generally, the focus is on the alleged provision of project fees to parties within the Ministry of Transportation,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6). Budi added that the KPK examined Ferdian Suryo as a witness on Wednesday (24/6) to delve into the procurement process for goods and services at DJKA. “As a result of this conditioning, it is suspected that project fees flowed from private parties to parties within DJKA or the Ministry of Transportation,” he said. The case came to light after the KPK conducted a sting operation at the Class I Railway Engineering Centre for the Central Java Region on 11 April 2023. The agency is now named the Class I Railway Engineering Centre Semarang. During the investigation, the KPK initially named 10 suspects and detained them in connection with alleged corruption in railway line construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. The projects include the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double-track railway, railway construction in Makassar, four construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, as well as level crossing improvement projects in Java and Sumatra. The KPK suspects that the winners of the projects were determined through manipulation of the procurement process, from the administrative stage to the determination of the tender winner.
