KPK probes graft case in Malaysia
JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has started investigations into alleged corruption at the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang, Malaysia, commission chairman Taufikurrahman Ruki said on Monday.
Taufikurrahman said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's Inspectorate General had recently handed over the case to the commission for investigation and prosecution.
He said that the case centered in the collection of illegal fees allegedly committed by certain officials of the consulate general from Indonesian citizens in Malaysia seeking immigration assistance.
He added that the case was first reported by KPK's counterpart in Malaysia in October of this year. -- Antara
