The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined eight state civil apparatus (ASN) from the West Jakarta Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office and three private sector individuals as witnesses. They were questioned regarding the alleged extortion case involving Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamen Imipas) for the 2024-2026 period, Silmy Karim, and seven other suspects. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated on Thursday, 18 June 2026, that all witnesses were present. He said investigators are probing the mechanism of receiving extortion money in Silmy Karim’s case by confirming evidence found during the sting operation, particularly concerning the working area of the West Jakarta Special Immigration Office. The immigration employees examined included General Functional Officer Dony Indra Kusuma, Head of Immigration Status Section Zainul Fikri, Head of Stay Permit and Immigration Status Division Widhi Deniartomo Asisona, Head of Travel Document Verification and Services Division Ernawati, Head of Travel Document Verification and Adjudication Section Iqbal Radipta Maulistiqlal, Head of Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Division Yoga Kharisma Suhud, as well as Section Heads Haryo Sampurno Ridhomukti and Deny Arli Asmara. The three private sector witnesses were Rachmawati Dewi Supeni, and PT 1688 Prima operational and finance staff Imas Rismaya and Felia Qintara. The investigation follows a sting operation (OTT) conducted on 2-3 June 2026, the KPK’s 11th such operation this year, which resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals—eight state officials and nine private intermediaries—for alleged corruption in processing foreign nationals’ residence permits. Deputy Minister Silmy Karim turned himself in to the KPK on 3 June 2026. The following day, the KPK named eight suspects for alleged extortion in the processing of foreign nationals’ stay permits from 2022 to 2026 within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
