The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is probing extortion attempts by Maidi during his tenure as Mayor of Madiun. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that the anti-corruption agency examined the matter by questioning ten private sector individuals and one neighbourhood association (RT) official as witnesses on 14 April 2026. “In this examination, investigators are gathering witness statements regarding extortion attempts through CSR and other gifts to the Mayor,” Budi told journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday. “The witnesses were also questioned about the efforts made by the suspect to force several businesspeople to provide CSR,” he added. The 11 witnesses are Ariyanti, Guritno Indah Wibowo, Tri Handoko, Bambang Kustarto, Mudjijono, Dwi Yuni Andayani, Tutik Sariwati, Faisal Bayu Kisworo, Syahrial Lastiadi Arief, Wawan, and Imam Teguh Santoso. Previously, on 19 January 2026, KPK conducted a sting operation against Madiun Mayor Maidi. On the same date, KPK revealed the sting operation against Maidi related to project kickbacks as well as corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSR) funds in Madiun City. KPK also announced two clusters in the alleged extortion case using the modus operandi of project kickbacks and CSR funds, as well as other receipts or gratifications in the Madiun City Government environment.
