KPK Probes Alleged Fixing of Witness Statements in Sudewo Case
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is probing alleged manipulation of witness statements in a case of alleged extortion involving the suspended Pati Regent Sudewo (SDW). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the probe into this matter was conducted as investigators questioned two witnesses on 4 March 2026. They were Noor Eva Khasanah, Head of the Administrative Affairs Subsection at Tambakromo Pati Community Health Center; and Sudiyono, Head of Angkatan Lor Village. ‘Investigators are examining allegations that these two witnesses attempted to gather other witnesses and fix their statements. This could certainly impede the ongoing investigation,’ Budi told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday. Therefore, he said, KPK is asking other witnesses to cooperate by providing truthful and complete statements to investigators during proceedings. A day later, 20 January 2026, KPK brought Sudewo and seven others to the Red and White Building (Gedung Merah Putih) of the KPK, in Jakarta, for the investigation process. On the same date, KPK named four suspects in the alleged extortion related to filling village apparatus posts in Pati Regency. They are Sudewo (SDW); Abdul Suyono, Head of Karangrowo Village (YON); Sumarjiono Arumanis, Head of Arumanis Village (JION); and Sukorukun Karjan, Head of Sukorukun Village (JAN). In addition, Sudewo was also named as a suspect in a bribery case related to a project to construct and maintain a railway line within the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation.
