KPK Probes Alleged Bribe Payments to Muara Enim Regent from Multiple Agencies
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that Muara Enim Regent Edison is suspected of receiving bribes from other parties beyond the smart board procurement at the Education and Culture Department (Disdikbud). The KPK will further investigate the allegation that Edison received bribes from other departments. “EDS, as the Regent of Muara Enim for the 2025-2030 period, is also suspected of receiving money payments from partners within the Muara Enim Regency Government, allegedly not only in the Education and Culture Department,” revealed KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein during a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/6/2026). Taufik confirmed that the findings in the Muara Enim Regency Government’s Disdikbud were the initial gateway for the investigation into Regent Edison’s bribery case. He said everything would be explored through the ongoing investigation. “Now, whether that also applies to other projects? It will certainly be developed during subsequent investigative activities,” explained Taufik. “Of course, the suspect is the Regent, isn’t he? The Regent does not only manage the Education Department. That will be a consideration for the investigative team during the investigation process that will take place,” he continued. Meanwhile, the fee or share received by Regent Edison in the smart board procurement project at Disdikbud of Muara Enim Regency reached 5 per cent of the total bribe worth Rp 500 million given by PT Millenium Solusi Abadi (MSA) through its marketer, suspect Cory Erin Hardi (CRH). “The Rp 500 million that was secured, from which project is it? It’s from previous holding accounts. So, there are several projects worked on by Suspect C and in other projects,” he said. “But based on the records, there is 5 per cent recorded for the Regent, that is indeed from the records of the Education Department only,” he concluded. Edison received his 5 per cent share of the bribe money from the private sector, which was entrusted through his nephew acting as an intermediary, Adi Triyadi, by Abi Nurwardani, the Secretary of the Muara Enim Regency Government Disdikbud. Both have also been named as suspects in this case. Edison ordered Abi Nurwardan to create holding accounts for bribe money from the private sector using the identities of several employees in the Muara Enim Regency Government, known as nominee accounts. The money in these holding accounts was then taken in cash by Abi to be handed over to Adi. In this case, the KPK has detained four people after they were named as suspects. Besides Muara Enim Regent Edison, three other parties have also been named as suspects and detained, namely: 1. Secretary of the Education and Culture Department for 2026 - Abi Nurwardani. 2. The Regent’s nephew - Adi Triyadi. 3. Marketer of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi - Cory Erin Hardi. The KPK subsequently charged Edison, Abi, and Adi under Article 12 letter a and/or Article 12 letter b and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes. Meanwhile, Cory, as a private party, was charged under Article 605 letter a and/or Article 605 letter b of Law Number 1 of 2026. The KPK has detained the suspects for the first 20 days from 9 to 28 June 2026. The detention was carried out at the State Detention Centre branch of the KPK’s Merah Putih Building.
