The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to pursue the case of extortion involving CSR funds at the Madiun City Government, with the suspect being the Mayor of Madiun, Maidi. The KPK is delving into the practice of extortion carried out by Maidi even before projects have commenced. This matter was examined by the KPK during the questioning of 10 witnesses related to the case on Tuesday (5/5). The examination took place at the Surakarta Treasury Office in Central Java. “In the examination of those witnesses, investigators delved into the allegations of CSR requests made by the Mayor to developers, while the projects had not yet started,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday (7/5/2026). The KPK stated that if the CSR funds were not provided, Maidi would not issue business permits. The witnesses examined included civil servants from the Madiun City Government and private parties. “Where if CSR is not given, then the permit is not issued,” he added. The KPK had previously designated Maidi as a suspect in alleged extortion and gratification. Maidi is suspected of demanding fees from business licensing in Madiun. The KPK seized cash amounting to Rp550 million in this case. The suspects in this case are: 1. Mayor of Madiun, Maidi 2. Head of the Public Works Department of Madiun City, Thariq Megah 3. Private party, Rochim Rudiyanto.
