KPK Probes Acting Cilacap Regent's Knowledge of Extortion Practices
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) delved into the knowledge of Acting Regent of Cilacap Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya (AAF) regarding alleged extortion practices occurring within the Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java.
The KPK examined this matter on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, when questioning Ammy Amalia as a witness in the investigation of the alleged extortion case for Eid al-Fitr holiday allowances (THR) for the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency, one of whose suspects is the inactive Regent of Cilacap Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
“Sister AAF was probed on her knowledge related to these extortion practices, whether they also occurred in previous years or periods,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Ammy Amalia conveyed a similar sentiment after undergoing examination by the KPK for the case.
“Yes, I was just asked if I knew or not? Well, I don’t know anything,” said Ammy at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5).
She emphasised that she had no knowledge of the alleged extortion practices carried out by Syamsul Auliya.
“I really don’t know at all, honestly, and I was never involved or asked to discuss it. I also really didn’t know at all if there was anything like that,” she affirmed.
Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK announced its ninth sting operation of 2026, which was also the third in the month of Ramadan.
The sting operation apprehended Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, and seized cash in rupiah.
On 14 March 2026, the KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in the alleged extortion and other receipts case within the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Syamsul Auliya targeted Rp750 million from the extortion, divided into Rp515 million for the THR of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency, and the remainder for personal interests. However, he had only obtained Rp610 million before being arrested by the KPK.
