KPK Prepares Anti-Corruption Material for Education Curriculum
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to intensify its education and prevention programmes, with one key strategy being the inclusion of anti-corruption material in the education curriculum. KPK Deputy Chairman Ibnu Basuki Widodo stated that agreements have been reached with the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, the Minister of Religious Affairs, and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) to incorporate anti-corruption education into the formal education pathway.
Speaking at the Mataram Mayor’s official residence in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Friday (12/6/2026), Ibnu explained that anti-corruption lessons would be inserted into existing school subjects. He considered this approach more effective for schools not yet ready to implement a standalone anti-corruption curriculum. “The anti-corruption lessons are supplementary. If a school can implement it independently, that is fine, but if not, it can be inserted into religious studies, Pancasila, or civics lessons, perhaps covering two to three chapters,” he said. “The regulations are already in place, and God willing, this will be implemented everywhere, including in Mataram and across West Nusa Tenggara.”
In addition, the KPK is campaigning for the ‘Jelajah Negeri Bangun Antikorupsi’ (Exploring the Nation to Build Anti-Corruption) programme. Mataram has been chosen as the first city in eastern Indonesia to host this initiative. “The KPK wants to invite all members of society to take anti-corruption actions, actions that embody integrity, honesty, fairness, hard work, and independence,” Ibnu added.
Mataram Mayor Mohan Roliskana expressed support for the KPK’s corruption prevention programme. Mataram previously achieved a special category score of 91.85 as an anti-corruption pilot city. “We support this activity because we believe it will significantly impact our children’s understanding, especially from an early age, regarding corrupt behaviour,” he said.
